Dear Parents and Families:
The Winter Holiday is here and schools will be closed for students and teachers until Tuesday January 3, 2017. In November we had a great deal of days off for both teacher professional learning and scheduled holidays. In December we have been busy at Stonewall with a variety of initiatives and programs and are already planning for the 2017-2018 school year.
Stonewall hosted in November one of two scheduled meetings to provide information for prospective students and parents currently in the 8th grade. The evening was well attended by approximately 100 rising ninth graders who learned about our International Baccalaureate program offerings. We are scheduled to host another one in January.
Winter sports is underway and Stonewall is competing well in Wrestling, Track, Basketball, Swim and Cheer. Also, Stonewall hosted a number of winter concerts for our school community; Orchestra, Band and Choir. These were well attended and show cased our talented musicians at Stonewall.
Presently, we are administering SOL testing to students in need of a verified credit and will run expedited retakes after the break. The SOL academy prepared students, in addition we have been running remediation for students in need of a CTE credential (Class of 2017). This is a new graduation requirement for students pursuing a standard diploma for the Class of 2017.
Best wishes for a relaxing and peaceful winter holiday with your friends and families and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2017!
