Instituterecognizes that attitudes and beliefs affect actions, and that each ofus can have an impact on others, and ultimately, on the world in whichwe live.
Peer Diversity, a program provided by A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE is aninteractive training program used by SJHS, using training modules andstandards-based classroom curricula incorporate the latest research fromthe education field.
The origins of the A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute date back to 1985,when ADL and WCVB-TV in Boston initiated the A WORLD OFDIFFERENCEcampaign, a series of education and media-driven programs designed tocombat prejudice and create effective tools to address these issues inthe classroom and community. The campaign's immense success led toongoing programs across the country and several national awardsincluding a Peabody, Gabriel and Scripps-Howard.
The A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute's programs and resources are designed to help participants:
- recognize bias and the harm it inflicts on individuals and society
- build understanding of the value and benefits of diversity
- improve intergroup relations
- confront racism, anti-Semitism and all other forms of bigotry
